The KeyBoard — a keyboard for the terminal in your pocket
Try driving Claude Code or Codex over SSH from your phone, and the first thing that fails you is the keyboard. Stock keyboards have no Control, Option, or Command — typing a single Ctrl+C means hunting through hidden menus. The KeyBoard puts everything a terminal needs right on the keys.
What it is
It looks exactly like a Mac US layout: Esc, Tab, Caps Lock, fn, and arrow keys, laid out in ANSI with the real proportions of a Magic Keyboard, so fingers trained on a Mac already know where everything is. At the same time it works as an everyday keyboard, including full Japanese input.
What it can do
- Modifiers that behave like keys — tap ⌃⌥⌘ to apply it to the next keystroke, double-tap to lock, or hold like a physical keyboard. Modifiers ride on standard Android key events as meta state, so terminal apps and remote desktops receive them exactly as they would from an external keyboard.
- Slash commands in one tap — a Claude Code pad (/clear, /compact, /resume, /model and more) and a Codex pad (/new, /diff, /approvals and more) enter commands without typos.
- A trackpad that moves a real pointer — using Shizuku, it creates a virtual mouse and moves Android's own cursor. One finger to move, tap to click, two fingers to scroll, long-press to drag.
- Japanese input that feels right — the 12-key flick layout matches measured key sizes and spacing from mainstream keyboards, and conversion runs Mozc entirely on the device with real-time prediction.
Privacy
The KeyBoard requests no INTERNET permission. A keyboard sees everything you type, so it is built to make sending your keystrokes anywhere physically impossible. Japanese conversion also runs entirely on the device.
